Basic Instructions to applying Mineral Makeup

Prep Face:
Wash Face thoroughly. Then apply toner and moisturizer cream. If you are applying on a customer, apply moisturizer.

Foundation Primer:
Stipple Foundation Primer all over face using a Kabuki or Handi Flat Top Brush. Foundation Primer will provide long lasting foundation as well as minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Concealer:
Apply concealer using a dabbing or blotting method. Wet your Ultimate Concealer Brush, tap the concealer into the lid or onto your Ultimate Makeup Palette, and mix the brush into the powder to create a creamy substance. Once the concealer has been applied, blend out with makeup sponge. This will give full coverage.

Mineral Veil:
Apply Mineral Veil using your Face Brush (Kabuki, Flawless Face or Handi Flat Top) using circular motions starting at the jaw line. Divide the face into three sections, forehead, and two sides. Tap only a small amount into your lid/application sheet, swirl your face brush into powder, tapping off any excess back into the lid. Repeat for each section of the face. This is will avoid any over use of Mineral Veil as well as foundation.

Foundation:
Apply Foundation using the same method as above. When using Mineral Makeup, Foundation does not have to be the exact shade. Mineral Makeup Foundation will blend with the skin not cover it, so the exact shade is not needed, but the closest shade should be found in the collection.

Bronzer:
Apply Bronzer onto the T-Zone of the face (forehead, nose and onto the cheeks). Using your Kabuki, applying powder to the brush using the swirl-tap method, sweep powder across T-Zone.

Blusher:
Apply Blush on the cheek bone of the face. Using you Kabuki, Baby Buki or Flawless Face (but best applied with Blush Brush) and using the swirl-tap method, apply darker blush in a sweeping motion back and forth onto cheek bone until desired effect is completed. Using a much lighter colour, apply over cheek and blend out the darker colour.

Brows (if applicable):
Using your Brow Definer Brush or your Brow/spoolie Brush, comb up brows to find natural curve of the brow. Using the appropriate brow colour, apply colour to the natural curve of the brow blending with your sponge, spoolie or finger to create a soft, natural effect.

Eye Shadow Primer:
Apply Eye shadow primer from brow to lash line. Scoop out a small amount of primer and place on hand to melt to body temperature. Dot onto eye lid blending with your finger outwards. Repeat until full eye is covered (brow to lash line) Repeat on other eye.

Eyes:
Apply base shadow. Using a light neutral colour, apply using Angled Shadow Brush from brow to lash line using the swirl, tap method. Finish the application with shadow, liner.

Mascara:
Always let the customer apply their own mascara. Tilt head back looking down towards the mirror. This will allow the mascara to get close to the lash line. If applying mascara to the bottom lash line, remove mascara from the container with the attached wand. Place mascara onto top of your hand and dip the Flat Liner Brush into mascara, and apply in sweeping motions onto lashes.

Lips:
Line Lips with your thin liner brush using the chosen lip colour. Blend liner out with the lipstick, gloss or smoothie chosen.

Tip:
If you/customer have oily skin dust on Mineral Veil (not in the circular motion, just lightly dusting) for maximum control.

Hiding Imperfections

Concealer is more dense than foundation, allowing fuller coverage of trouble spots and hyperpigmentation (red areas). It can be used over foundation or on it own, and has greater staying power. Remember, a little goes a long way!
Since the skin under your eyes is more transparent, it tends to look dark, especially at the inner corner near the bridge of the nose. To even out the tone, concealer is a must.

Using a wet Concealer brush, swirl into your Concealer and apply sparingly in a dabbing motion, gently pat over dark under-eye circles(don't sweep it across the entire area, dab it), then blend with your ring finger, sponge, or a clean concealer brush.
To cover trouble spots and imperfections, apply your Concealer the same as above then lightly press with a makeup sponge.

Evening Blush

Apply your blush before your bronzer
Start with a darker hue (Sienna or Bold Blush works great!!) then normal and apply to the “apples” of your cheeks and sweep outwards towards your ear.
Using a much lighter hue (Blaze Blush is perfect for this look); apply under your cheek bones and upward towards your temples.
Apply your Bronzer as you normal would (“T-zone”) Then apply on your cheek bones upward towards your temples, blending with your finger, to allow all three colours to combine together softly.

Creating a Natural, Rosy Radiance

When applying blush, you want the color to look soft and natural, as if it comes from within.

1. Tap or lightly blow on the applicator brush to remove any excess blush before applying to prevent a harsh and uneven application.
2. Apply your blush on the apple of the cheek and carefully blend towards your natural hairline.
3. If you have two shades, apply the darker one on the apple of the cheek first, then use the lighter shade to highlight. Blend well so there is no visible line between colors.
4. Highlight your temples, forehead, nose and chin with Bronzer for a sun-kissed look.
Tip: To know "where to glow" bend over for 30 seconds, then slowly stand up. Where your cheeks are flushed is where you are meant to blush. Apply your blush there and it will be naturally rosy every time.
Tip: Cheek color should be used to enhance your complexion, not to change your natural skin tone. Use sparingly for daytime, then add more or a deeper shade for a more dramatic nighttime effect. For special occasions, dust a lightly frosted powder over your cheekbones for a subtle but alluring glow.
Tip: Make sure to blend your blush into your foundation well or it will tend to look unnatural and add the appearance of 5 years to your looks

Mascara Application

Start by applying mascara to your upper lashes first. Brush them downwards to start with, then, brush your lashes upwards from underneath. Use a tiny zig-zag movement to prevent mascara from clogging on your lashes.
Next, use the tip of the mascara wand to brush your lower lashes, using a gentle side to side technique. Take care to keep your hand steady whilst you are applying the mascara and not to blink while the mascara is still wet.
Comb through your lashes with an eyelash comb to remove any excess the wand has left behind.

Tips for applying eye mascara

Select a suitable color. If you have blonde or red lashes then go for brown mascara. Darker-lashed women can consider brown for a casual look, and black or brown-black for more pronounced or dramatic lashes.
Prior to your mascara, Curl your lashes with an eyelash curler and apply all other eye makeup, this will help widen your eyes.
Begin with the underside of your upper eye lashes and then moving the brush slowly upward toward the tips of your lashes.
Wait for a minute for them to dry, and similarly apply a second coat. Let the first coat dry completely, then apply the second coat. Two thin coats look more natural than one thick coat.
Finally brush with a clean dry brush, to separate the lashes.

Eyeshape Tips

Small Eyes

1. Use a light-coloured shadow on the inner half of the eye starting from the lashes to the brow.

2. Apply a medium shadow to the crease concentrating on the outer half of the eye.

3. Apply eyeliner on outer half of the eye closest to the lashes.

4. Apply a highlighter colour under the arch of the brow. You can also use a white liner in the inner lower or upper rims, this can help to open up your eyes.

5. Keep your eyebrows groomed and shaped. A light thinner eyebrow for small eyes will help to open the eyes up.

Wide-Set Eyes

1. Apply a light to medium shade from lash to brow.

2. Place a medium or dark shadow near the eyes' inner corners continuing out toward the temples.

3. Extend the liner all the way to the inner corner of the eye closest to the lashes.

4. Then applying mascara concentrate on the center lashes.

Deep-Set Eyes

1. Use a light shade from lash to brow.

2. Place a medium contour colour just above the crease and blend upward.

3. Dot highlighter on inner corners of eyes.

4. When applying eyeliner stay as close to the lash line as possible. Less is best with deep-set eyes.

5. Apply mascara to upper and lower lashes and comb through with metal lash comb, lash groomer or deluxe spooly mascara brush.

Close-Set Eyes

1. Apply a light colour shadow on the inner half of the upper lid from lash to brow.

2. Extend a medium shade on outer half of the eyelid towards hairline and blend well.

3. Begin lining the eye at the inner corner extending a touch beyond the outer edge.

4. Dot highlighter in the inner corner of the eye.

5. Apply mascara to upper lashes and lower if desired. If you use mascara on lower lashes use only on outer few.

Round Eyes

1. Use a light tone shadow from lash to brow.

2. Use a dark shadow in the crease.

<

3. Line only outer half of the eye and extend liner out and up at the ends.

4. Mascara for top lashes only concentrating on outer half.

Bulging or Puffy Eyes

1. Use a highlighter shade in the inner corners of the eyes.

2. Use a dark matte shadow in the crease of the eye (wherever it is bulging or puffy).

3. Extend eyeliner along the lashes going from the inner corner to the outer corner. If you prefer use a dark eye liner in the inner lid rim. Never use the liner under lower lashes. It will accentuate the bulging of the eye.

4. Emphasize upper lashes with mascara especially the outer lashes. Use very little or no mascara on lower lashes.

Droopy Eyelids

1. Use a light shadow along the inner half of your upper lid.

2. Use a dark matte shadow where your lid begins to droop extending to the outer half of lid.

3. Dot highlighter under the inner edge of brows.

4. Line from the inner top edge to pupil of your eye. Be careful that you do not take eyeliner to the end of the eye, as this will emphasize the droopiness.

5. Apply mascara to upper lashes.

Turned Down Eye

1. We recommend you start with the eyeliner to visually lift the outer corners of your eyes. Begin the line at the inner corner of lash line just past the pupil, and then sweep up and out. Draw a line on the lower lashes that parallels the top lid sweeping it up and out.

2. Apply medium-toned shadow over the whole lid.

3. Place a contour shade in the crease following your eyeliner as your guide. Be careful that the contour and liner do not meet at the outer corner.

4. Apply your highlighter under the brow's arch.

5. Use eyelash curler first then apply mascara to outer upper lashes only.

Mature or Crepey Eyes

1. Apply a light to medium shade over entire lid.

2. If you would like to apply a contour colour this is a good time to use a matte creame-based shadow (mix with your moisturizer) because it is very difficult to apply a powder coloration on less than supple skin.

3. Apply eyeliner along the lash line with the line growing a bit thicker toward the outer part of the eye. It is very important with a mature eye to blend correctly. We recommend a large sponge brush to blend colourations smoothly, especially if you have difficulty with your vision.

4. Apply a light coat of mascara on upper lashes if desired.

Vanishing Lids

1. Apply a light or medium toned shadow from lash line to the brow bone.

2. Concentrate deep, darker, neutral tones just above the crease. When applying colour feather lightly towards the brow.

3. When applying eyeliner stay right at the lash line with a light hand. You do not want a thick line. It should be a very fine line.

4. Add a highlighter on the brow bone.

5. Curl lashes to help open up the eye. Now apply mascara to the top lashes only.

Almond Shaped Eyes

1. Apply a light shade from lash line to the brow.

2. Apply a medium contour shade on the lid.

3. Next use a darker shadow on the outer corner of the lid and blend well.

4. Line the eyes if desired closest to the lash line as possible top and bottom.

5. Apply mascara top and bottom and comb well.

Cosmetic Brush Cleansing

We work so hard to keep our skin as clear and radiant as possible. It's amazing that we often overlook the one thing under our noses that could be causing troubled skin . . .our cosmetic brushes! Those beautiful brushes that you use everyday pick up dirt from your face, bathroom counter and make-up bag. These nasties then get transferred to your makeup or your face and can be culprit number one in causing breakouts!
So, what's a girl to do? Clean those brushes! We recommend that you clean your cosmetic brushes every few days and wash them every few weeks. Remember to cleanse your brushes to ensure clean, clear skin and a beautiful complexion!
Cosmetic brushes can build up oil and bacteria which can contribute to skin irritation and acne. We recommend that you disinfect your brushes every few days with our Natural Brush Cleaner and wash them every few weeks.
Caring for your cosmetic brush investment is much easier than most people realize. I typically wash all my brushes every two weeks. All you need is a good, slightly moisturizing shampoo or liquid soap and a towel. Start by wetting the brush bristles thoroughly, then apply a small dab of shampoo or liquid soap directly to the bristles. Lather the soap throughout the bristles for a few seconds like you would when shampooing your hair. I like to swish it around with a little water in my palm to work off any stubborn eye shadow or concealer. When shampoo and water are free of debris. rinse the bristles thoroughly under lukewarm running water. Very gentle squeeze the excess water out, reshape the bristles to their normal shape, and lay the brush on the towel in the flat position.

The brush must be dried flat for two reasons:

1. If the brush is upright, any excess water will run down into the brush and break down the glue that is holding the bristles in place.
2. The bristles will bend and flop over into a completely different shape, making normal makeup application very difficult.
We recommend you clean your brushes at night so they are completely dry and ready to go in the morning. Be careful not to over wash your brushes, as this can make the bristles brittle and scratchy. If you find you are using multiple colours that require the brush to be clean, either consider purchasing more than one of the brushes you use most often, or purchase out Brush Cleaner for a quick clean…not to be confused with a quick wash!

General Tips

There are lots of Tips that can be suggested, it’s all about experimenting!! Here are a few tips that anyone can accomplish!

Tip # 1 – To use as a liquid foundation or concealer, add a pea size amount of your favorite moisturizer cream to a small amount of powder foundation and mix well. This is an excellent procedure for dark under-eye circles! Tip # 2 – Pour a small amount of your favorite colour, dip your chap or lip gloss wand into the powder that you tapped into the lid to use as a Lipstick or Gloss
Tip # 3 – Pour a small amount of your favorite colour onto Tissue or Rice Paper, dip your clear nailpolish brush into the powder and use as an original nailpolish
Tip # 4 – Use Mineral Veil before and after Foundation application this will help control shiny and/or oily skin.
Tip # 5 - Wash and apply moisturizer creams to your face prior to each makeup application.

It is very important to prep your face before applying any kind of makeup!!!!

Tip # 6 - Mix equal amounts of your favorite colours to create your own new creations!
Tip #7 - For women with blue eyes, eyeliners in brown and rose tones contrast the blue of the eyes, making them appear more vibrant.
Tip #8 - Green eyes, on the other hand, brighten up with violet shades that give a dramatic look for evenings or stage makeup and look great in photographs.
Tip #9 - A mocha shade is a subtle, everyday look for all eye colours but especially brown eyes, which also give a smoldering look when green and gold eyeliners are used.
Tip #10 - Neutral shades in eyeliners are charcoal, black, and chocolate, good for all eye colours, except those with small eyes would do well to avoid these, as they tend to make eyes appear smaller. Thus, it is preferable to restrict dark eyeliner colours to the crease of the eye and highlight the brow bone with a light shade.
Tip #11 - A bit of powder dusted on the eyelid prepares the eyeliner to set well and intensify the eyes.

Remember all EYE SHADOWS can be used as eyeliners as well!!!

Eyebrows

While going to shape your brows, make sure not to over pluck. It is best to see a professional as they are trained to know the shape that works best with your face.
Do not apply very dark eyebrow powder as it will make over powering eyebrows!
Comb Eyebrows with a spoolie brush or a eyebrow comb
Fill the eyebrow colour in a feather like stroke using a brow powder brush (the bristles are more stiff and can mimic hair easier) with a brow powder slightly darker then your hair colour.
Comb any excess away. The main trick for filling eyebrows is to comb, apply and the comb again. This will provide you with a natural looking brow.

Applying Bronzer

Bronzer makeup is a fast, effective, easy and immediate results way to bring a radiant sun-kissed fresh look to your face.
Bronzer Makeup Tip: Powder bronzers are the most fool proof in application when it comes to technique...Creamy/ liquid applications take a little more placement and blending strategy. So if you feel like you have 'two left thumbs' when it comes to makeup application, have no fear with powder bronzer. You can have a believable sun kissed look with a light hand, a powder brush, and a powder bronzer.
After the application of your foundation powder bronzer can be lightly dusted across tops of cheeks nose, forehead, chin (t-zone), décolletage, etc with blush as the final dimension of colour. Make sure to use a clean domed shaped brush. Using a sweeping motion with create a natural effect.
If you want to get more in detailed when it comes to contouring your face you can do the following:

1. Apply bronzer to jaw-line and blend upwards. This will create a very feminine contour to your face.
2. Apply bronzer from your hair line (making sure to blend into your hair) downwards along your cheekbone to create a more defined cheekbone. Then accent with blush.
3. Then apply bronzer to the temples to create depth
4. Apply bronzer to any area that you wish to appear smaller, chin, nose, forehead ect. Make sure to blend well
