Basic Application of Mineral Make-up

Prep your Face

This is an important step that many woman overlook. Proper Skin Care and a proper Skin Care regime are both extremely crucial for the health and well being of you skin! Washing your face thoroughly, will remove all traces of debris, makeup and oil. Exfoliating once a week to clean out your pores and remove dry skin is also important. Daily, you should wash, tone and apply moisturizer...makeup or no makeup. We can't stress enough how important this is, and how this should be part of our daily routine.

Foundation Primer

Stipple Foundation Primer all over face using a Kabuki or Flat Top Foundation Brush. Foundation Primer will provide long lasting foundation as well as minimizing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Concealer

Apply concealer using a dabbing or blotting method.

For loose mineral Powdered Concealer, you would tap the concealer into the lid or onto a tissue, mix the brush into the powder. Once the concealer has been applied, blend out with a makeup sponge or finger.

For Creamy Concealer, you would apply in a dabbing motion blending as you would with any Concealer. When applying to your undereye area, you will want to start with the inside of the eye area and work outwards. Then work inwards from the outer corner of the eye to avoid maximizing the appearance of fine undereye lines.

Mineral Veil

Apply Mineral Veil using your Face Brush (Kabuki, Foundation or Powder Brush) using circular motions starting at the jaw line.
For beginners, divide the face into three sections, forehead, and two sides. Tap only a small amount of powder into your lid or on your application sheet, swirl your face brush into powder, tapping off any excess.
Repeat for each section of the face. This is will avoid any over use of Mineral Veil as well as Foundation. For extremely oily skin, dust as a finishing powder as well to keep shine free all day!

Foundation

Apply Foundation using the same method as Mineral Veil. When using Mineral Makeup, Foundation does not have to be the exact shade. Mineral Makeup Foundation will blend with the skin not cover it, so the exact shade is not needed, just the closest.

Bronzer

Apply Bronzer onto the T-Zone of the face (forehead, nose and onto the cheeks). Using your Kabuki or Foundation/Bronzing Brush applying powder to the brush using the swirl-tap method, sweep powder across T-Zone. Bronzing powder can also be used as a contouring agent.

Blusher

Apply Blush on the cheek bone of the face. Using you Kabuki, Blush or Contouring Brush (but best applied with Blush Brush) and using the swirl-tap method, apply darker blush in a sweeping motion back and forth onto cheek bone until desired effect is completed. Using a much lighter colour, apply over cheek and blend out the darker colour. Remember, not being able to tell where Blush begins and where it ends is very important. Remember to BLEND BLEND BLEND!

Brows (if applicable)

Using your Brow Definer Brush and your Spoolie Brush, comb up hairs to find natural arch of the brow. Using the appropriate brow colour, apply colour to the natural arch of the brow blending with your sponge, spoolie or finger to create a soft, natural effect. Then work from the start of your brow outward to the arch and then downward from the arch. Remember to blend!

Eyes

Apply Foundation primer from brow to lash line. Apply in a dabbing motion with your concealer or short bristled eyeshadow brush, blending with your finger Repeat until full eye is covered (brow to lash line) Repeat on other eye.

Apply base shadow. Using a light neutral colour, apply using a large fluffy Brush (Blending/Shading brush is perfect for base colours) from brow to lash line using the swirl, tap method.
Apply your contouring and highlighting shade using your desired eyeshadow brush (the shorter the bristles the dark and fuller the colour).
Curl Lashes and apply Eyeliner.

Mascara

Tilt head back looking down towards the mirror. This will allow the mascara to get close to the lash line. Using a zig zag motion staring at the outer corners, zig zag inwards and up.

Lips

Lining lips is another important step that is often overlooked. Lining your lips will hold the colour in longer as well as create fuller lip.
Using a Lip Liner that is atleast 2 shades lighter then your lip colour chosen, line the outside of your lip, make sure to get right into the corners or when you talk, it will be noticeable that you missed that area! Blend with the liner into your lips. Make sure to blend well.
Apply lip colour, and then apply a fine line of concealer around your lips and blend. This step will really make those lips POP!!

Extra Tidbits

Bring on the Sparks! Dust some of our Scented Body Sparks all over your body, or use on your face as a highlighter.

Apply a thin line of concealer under your bottom lashline with a Small Angled Liner Brush. This will help you avoid any liner mishaps half way through the day.

Using your Small Angled Liner Brush, apply a thin line of bronzer onto the bridge of your nose, just under your jawline and your cheek bone. Blend well. This will create a "shadow" that will allow the appearance of a thinner, more narrow face.

Apply a black eyeliner to just under your top lashline. This will create the appearance and fuller lashes.
